Our skilled therapists hold their doctorates in physical therapy. Our staff also includes board-certified orthopedic specialists to ensure that you get the best care available for the quickest results. Each client will be assessed by our physical therapy doctors for injury risk using our movement screening which will help develop a personalized program that will help you achieve the results that matter most to you. Our nutritionists utilize the most current research to not only provide you with the best advice to achieve all your personal goals but, they will work with you to find out how you can follow a plan that fits your lifestyle. After working with many clients, we understand that no one can sustain a drastic change however we will supply key steps that will work for you personally.

Saftey during COVID-19

We want to ensure your safety during this time and throughout your experience at RISE. We are consistently monitoring CDC and other healthcare guidelines in order to implement best practices which include:

  • Patients will (as always) be seen one-on-one to prevent over-crowding
  • Spacing between appointments will also be used to prevent over-crowding and ensure the ability to maintain safe spacing when possible
  • Patients will be checked with a forehead thermometer to monitor for fever and screened for other symptoms as per guidelines
  • Use of PPE (masks/face-coverings and gloves) for patients and therapist
  • Hand sanitizer (above 70% alcohol content) will be available within the clinic for use for patients and therapist
  • Soap and wash stations are also available
  • All surfaces contacted will be wiped after each use using CDC-approved solutions
  • Telehealth is an option when appropriate and according to the patient’s comfort level
  • As well as other precautions as we continue to monitor recommendations (CDC.gov COVID)

Dr. Jonathan Gayed, PT, DPT, OCS

Jonathan grew up in Bergen County and enjoyed playing basketball and football. Jonathan earned his doctoral degree in physical therapy at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. Following his doctorate, Jonathan went on to complete his residency to further specialize in orthopedic physical therapy as one of eleven people selected for the program across the nation.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Gayed went on to become an ABPTS board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist (OCS). Jonathan is also certified in trigger point dry needling technique, Kinesio-Taping, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Systems (FMS), Blood-Flow Restriction Therapy, Cupping, and Instrument-Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization (IASTM).

After advancing his skill set in physical therapy techniques, Jonathan began seeing a demand for nutrition training among the patients he treated and went on to complete Precision Nutrition’s certification program. He uses this knowledge to help all patients help optimize results.

Jonathan is currently a professor at Rutgers’ and Kean University’s doctor of physical therapy program and was previously and adjunct professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Jonathan enjoys advancing the career of physical therapy and mentors many student physical therapists. In addition to teaching and mentoring, Jonathan is actively involved in the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) orthopedic and sports sections.

Dr. Gayed and I have been friends for quite a long time, but this was the first time I went to him as a patient. As I started to workout more to shave some weight gained throughout the pandemic, I began to notice some hip pain which gradually increased in severity over the last several weeks. Through several different tests, Dr. Gayed was able to identify the source and root cause of my pain. Rather than simply telling me the problem, Dr. Gayed took his time with explaining his findings and provided me with several exercises and stretches to help improve my pain. Ultimately, his suggestions have helped me to move on from my issue only two weeks following our session. I wholeheartedly believe that Dr. Gayed is one of the top experts in his field and would recommend any individual to seek his medical care.

Jon was essential to my recovery from my acl and meniscus injuries. His knowledge and techniques assured me that I could get back to my former self, but honestly after leaving his care I feel even better than I did pre-injury. Jonathan is single-handedly the best physical therapist I've been to. I have had chronic back pain for over 4 years and have been to several physical therapists over the years. However, I had no luck until I came to Jon. He takes the time to really diagnose you and custom tailor a rehabilitation plan for you. And he's also super knowledgeable in several other fields and applies his knowledge to his practice in a way that goes beyond the regular text book physical therapy practices. I went from experiencing pain from just walking to being able to workout and run every week day and regularly play sports again without any pain at all within a few months. Jonathan is also a very friendly and personable guy so going to his sessions is also an enjoyable experience. You'll always leave his office feeling better both physically and mentally.
